History

The Ancient Ram Inn is a Grade II* listed building and a former pub located in Wotton-under-Edge, a market town within the Stroud district of Gloucestershire, England. It is said to be one of the most haunted hotels in the country. The inn has been owned by many people since 1145 and is currently in the private ownership of John Humphries. This inn was said to have also been owned by the local St. Mary's Church when first built..
This location is well known for its paranormal activity..

Ghosts.. Well what can we say about the Ancient Ram Inn... From being grabbed by unseen hands to an Icubus that pins you down as you lay on the beds.. This location is said to be one of the most haunted Inns in the Uk. One of the most renowned myths about the Ancient Ram Inn is that a witch was burned at the stake in the 1500s. It was the prosecution of people who did not believe and practice Christianity as sanctioned by the government. Some people believe that the woman’s spirit still haunts one of the rooms of the house as she took refuge there before being killed..Today, that room is called “The Witch’s Room”. It is also believed that the redirecting of water on the Ancient Ram property caused a portal for energy to open up. The owner himself, John Humphries, has said that spirits have made the house their resting place. During John’s first night, he claims to have been grabbed by the arm by a demonic entity and dragged from the bed... John has later found evidence of Devil worship and ritual sacrifice too. He found skeletal remains of children just under the stairs. Parts of daggers were also found within the skeletons.He claims to be haunted and attacked by various entities in the house on a regular basis. One of the most active rooms in the location is called “The Bishop’s Inn” on the first floor.. When the inn was still a guest house , some of the guests would not want to sleep in that room. Some who did sleep ended up fleeing in the middle of the night in terror. It is said that the ghost of a monk haunts the room on a regular basis. A presence that does not want you there..
